Do you play autoharp? Don’t miss this opportunity to improve your playing skills in a fun and supportive environment, led by nationally acclaimed instructor and performer Karen Mueller. The workshop is open to all levels except new players, and will cover both strumming rhythm patterns (accompanying singing) and melody picking.
Styles will include folk, old-time, Celtic and more. You will also have a chance to learn more about arranging and jamming. Most instruction will be done using written song charts and autoharp tabs, which will be explained.

Participants will need to bring a tuned autoharp of any type (a standard chromatic is best), finger and thumb picks, an electronic tuner and tuning wrench. A music stand is also useful.

Karen Mueller is one of the top players and instructors in the autoharp world today. She won the International Autoharp Championship (Winfield, KS) in 1986, and began teaching at national venues such as the Augusta Heritage Center (WV) and the Old Town School (Chicago) in 1987.  Karen is also a member of the Autoharp Hall of Fame, and has released five critically acclaimed CDs, as well as Mel Bay’s “Celtic Autoharp” book. She is a regular instructor at the California Autoharp Gathering, the Ozark Folk Center (AR), the John C. Campbell Folk School (NC), Seattle Autoharp Week, Sore Fingers Week (England) and more. Karen is known to be a patient, effective, and attentive instructor, and according to a past workshop student, “is a skilled, articulate teacher who is both focused and goal oriented. She has the ability to help students achieve a high level of competence in a short time frame.”

Registration includes your lunches, and one free admission to Saturday night’s Ice Cream Social.
