Learn to carve spoons from green wood, with artisan carver, Derek Brabender! This class covers carving fundamentals such as safe axe/knife techniques, as well as how to source and process raw material. Experienced carvers will also have the opportunity to learn more advanced spoon carving techniques as well as discuss fine details of spoon design. Using carving tools does call for a small degree of strength. A good gauge of the strength needed is the ability to open a sealed jar lid.
Students will go home with their own hand-carved wooden spoon, and the skills to create more.
Materials fee: (Paid directly to instructor during class): $10
