Join us for an interactive and fun workshop where students will create their own “story quilt” collage inspired by Faith Ringgold, the famous writer, painter and quilter.    Students will be creating their own mixed media story quilt by painting a scene from memory, and then gluing fabric or paper scraps to produce a “quilt” border.

This workshop is designed for child and caregiver teams of two and is recommended for 2nd – 4th grade students but all ages are welcome to attend this fun and explorative day of creating art!

Students will learn about the Contemporary American artist Faith Ringgold, and her imaginative work. Faith Ringgold is an artist who creates sculptures, mosaics, performance art, and children’s books, but she is best known for her painted story quilts.

Students need to bring the following supplies

Fabric and art supplies will be provided. Student / Caregiver teams are encouraged to bring their own fabric pieces that may have family memories to include in the collage; however, not required.
