Traditional mohair cinches are strong, resistant to dirt and will not sore a horse if properly fitted. The guitar strap makes a unique gift for that musician in your life, or yourself! Both are beautiful to look at and offer nearly endless design possibilities, typically based on the diamond and bar design. In this informative two-day workshop you will make either a cinch or a guitar strap. Materials for a 30″ cinch or a 48″ guitar strap are provided, as well as the use of all necessary tools (you may request a different length; see confirmation letter). Participants receive a detailed set of instructions for making a basic cinch or strap and plans for a cinch loom and loom stand.

BIO: Since 2006, Pop Wagner has been teaching making mohair cinches and guitar straps in classes around the country. He has perfected his technique and passed on that knowledge to over 200 students in a patient, helpful and humorous style. Pop appeared quite frequently on Public Radio’s A Prairie Home Companion during the show’s formative years and for the last four decades he has worked his cowboy magic throughout 44 states and ten countries. “Renaissance cowboy/raconteur Pop Wagner …deadpan funny …his presence is like meeting Woody Guthrie and Will Rogers riding a single, many colored horse. Pop is a kind of ‘textile genius’ who is able to spin, at once, both yarn and rope.” –Ron Miles, Grassroots Concerts, Brainerd, MNVisit Pop’s website at www.popwagner.com BACK to Sustainability Weekend
