Reimagining Our Playground
In the 1990s, Folklore Village volunteers came together to build a playground for the children who fill our campus with laughter and energy. For decades, it has welcomed school groups, festival attendees, and families, giving young visitors a place to play while they explore music, dance, stories, and traditions.
The playground has become part of the Folklore Village experience, helping us create a welcoming, intergenerational community where children can learn, imagine, and belong.
Time For Renewal
After decades of daily use and many Wisconsin winters, the playground is showing its age. Worn surfaces, deteriorating borders, and aging equipment have created safety concerns that have forced us to close the playground.
While disappointing, this closure also gives us the opportunity to reimagine the space for a new generation of visitors.
Building the Next Chapter
Our playground renewal will happen in phases, allowing us to reopen safely while planning for future improvements.
Phase 1 will replace worn ground cover with fresh wood chips, install new play area borders and dividers, remove outdated equipment and update the swing area.
These improvements will make the playground safe and welcoming once again.
Looking ahead, Phase 2 will focus on adding new play structures and features that better reflect the creativity, exploration, and community spirit of Folklore Village.
