Old-Fashioned Community Fun!
Saturday Night Socials harken back to the early days of Folklore Village when Jane Farwell would host Saturday Night events at the Wakefield Schoolhouse. These themed evenings feature family friendly folk dancing and games.
Sankta Lucia
December 4 | 2 – 5pm
Children and adults alike are invited out to this special day of wintertime wonder! The event starts off at 2 PM with crafts and making the lussekatter, saffron buns traditionally served on this day. All ages enjoy shaping the buns in their traditional shapes and exploring what other shapes are possible.
After shaping the lussekatter, we will learn the Sankta Lucia songs and put on the candlelit Sankta Lucia procession. All ages are invited to participate in the songs and procession.
Admission: $10 adults, $8 seniors & teens, $5 kids 5-12. Kids under 5 are free, and family admission is capped at $25.
German Tree Lighting
December 12 | 6pm
It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Folklore Village! Join us for our eagerly anticipated German Christmas Tree Lighting. Children and adult alike will experience the wonder of the season as we light a 14-foot evergreen tree with 50 real candles.
This family-friendly event starts with a potluck at 6:00pm. Help us light the tree after the potluck, and then enjoy family-friendly dancing and a joyous carol sing. Musicians are welcome and encouraged to join the informal “Folklore Village Volunteer Band.”
