Saturday Night Socials harken back to the early days of Folklore Village when Jane Farwell would host Saturday Night events at the Wakefield Schoolhouse. These themed evenings feature family friendly folk dancing and games.
Jane Night:
Jane Farwell’s Birthday Celebration

Join us for a very special evening honoring the life and legacy of our founder, Jane Farwell. In celebration of Jane’s birthday, we will gather at Farwell Hall on January 17th for a community potluck, lively dancing, music, and games, all in the warm spirit Jane championed throughout her lifetime.
Jane Night is an annual tradition that begins with a 6:00pm potluck supper. Please bring a favorite dish to share. After dinner, join us for dancing, music, and folk games reminiscent of the community-focused fun Jane instilled at Folklore Village. Volunteer musicians are encouraged to participate in the Folklore Village Band.
Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and teens, $5 for kids, and free for children under five. There is also a $25 cap for the entire household.
Maypole Social

Folklore Village invites all ages to join us in welcoming spring with English maypole dances! The evening begins with a potluck at 6:00PM, followed by maypole decorating. We encourage you to bring a potluck dish to share and fresh flowers to help with the maypole decorating. After we’ve adorned the maypole with colorful flowers, we will use simple, family-friendly dances to weave beautiful patterns with the maypole ribbons. Musicians are welcome to join the informal, volunteer Folklore Village Band in playing music for the maypole dances.
Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and teens, $5 for kids, and free for children under five. There is also a $25 cap for the entire household.
Schoolhouse Social

Enjoy an old-style Saturday Night Social in the Wakefield Schoolhouse! We’ll enjoy a community potluck at 6pm followed by favorite dances and games from the Schoolhouse era. All are welcome, whether the Schoolhouse is where you first fell in love with Folklore Village, or whether you’ve yet to experience it. Musicians are welcome and encouraged to come and join the informal, volunteer Folklore Village Band.
Potluck starts at 6:00 PM. Bring a potluck dish to share and your own tableware to enjoy the meal; the Schoolhouse does not have running water so you can help us out by packing out your own used dishes, cups, and silverware.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for teens and seniors, and $5 for kids 5-12. Kids under 5 are admitted free, and family admission is capped at $25.
Ice Cream Social
August 8 | 6:00pm
Bring your favorite toppings and come enjoy a bowl of homemade ice cream! You’ll even get the chance to try out Folklore Village’s old-fashioned, hand-cranked ice cream machine!
This family-friendly event starts with a potluck at 6:00pm; bring a dish to share. The potluck will be followed by dancing and games at approximately 7:15pm. No dance experience is required; we’ll learn fun social dances that are great for all ages and skill levels. Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments and join the informal, volunteer Folklore Village Band. After dancing we’ll enjoy our homemade ice cream—remember to bring your favorite toppings!
