Spoon Carving

Class Fee:  $160.00

Using simple hand tools, students will learn how to transform a log into a beautiful, functional wooden spoon. No previous woodworking experience is necessary.  During the two days you gain a range of skills, including:

  • How to use an axe.
  • Safe knife techniques
  • How to sharpen and maintain spoon carving tools
  • Develop your design skills
  • Deepen your knowledge of trees and wood

 

Students will go home with their own hand-carved wooden spoon, and the skills to create more.

Materials fee: (Paid directly to instructor during class):  $10

Tom Bartlett has practiced with woodworkers in the UK, Sweden and the United States. The items he makes are influenced by traditional crafts from cultures across the world. He takes inspiration from historic designs, always updating them to meet today’s needs.
